Project Overview

Completed in May 2021, this 907-panel system was developed and installed across on 2 buildings at Hugh Lowe Farms ‘Packhouse’ site.

With processing and packing produce being such an energy-intensive activity, Hugh Lowe Farms were keen to use their roof space to protect themselves from rising energy costs, whilst at the same time reducing their carbon footprint.

With over 300kW of generating capacity, Hugh Lowe Farm’s solar arrays produce enough power to run 122 2-bedroom homes, and reduce their carbon emissions by 56,374kgs per year, the same as a taking 5.5million plane miles out of the sky.

Client’s Comments

‘’It was a fairly straight-forward decision for the business; we already work closely with the sun to ripen our fruit so why not work with it to generate our power?

Working in a sustainable manner is literally at the heart of what we do; it’s fundamental to us that all aspects of our processes are as clean as possible.

Investing in solar has been an important step for us but it does not, and cannot, stop there. Part of the project involved installing a digital carbon-reduction display in our main staff training room so we are interested to see how the solar array might also help drive behaviour change amongst our colleagues.

We are very pleased to have chosen BeBa for this project. Although this is the first time we have worked together, I have known them for a long time, and its great to see them fulfil the order exactly how they said they would’’

BeBa comments
‘’Having first met the team at Hugh Lowe Farms nearly 10 years ago, it’s been great to finally work together.

The financial benefits of a solar array have been well known for a while but only recently have businesses started to realise that they can make a real difference by putting their roof to work

To invest in something that will generate the equivalent carbon savings as taking 5.5million plane miles out of the sky, Hugh Lowe Farms have made a significant contribution towards the UK’s Net Zero ambitions.‘’
